Procedures and Policies
There are three steps to take to become part of the Rancho Viejo Montessori School:
- Visit the School.
- Bring your child.
- Submit application forms and fees.
We encourage all new families to visit our school during the morning hours between 9 and 11. We will be happy to accommodate later appointments if needed. You will receive an introduction to our philosophy, a tour of the school, observation of classrooms, and time with the head of school for questions and answers.
We recommend that the potential students accompany their parents for a tour of the school and visit with the teachers and head of school. Elementary students will be invited to spend a full day in the classroom. An interview may be required for prospective Elementary and Middle School students.
Complete the Application for Admission form and send it to the school along with a non-refundable $100 application fee.
Priorities
The following priorities are observed in determining admission:
- Currently enrolled students
- Siblings of currently enrolled students
- Legacy Students
- Transfer students from other Montessori schools
- Balance of age and gender in the classroom
Policies
Acceptance of an applicant is based on the child’s readiness for the Montessori program. Admissions decisions are made by the head of school and teaching staff. These decisions are based on an evaluation of the child’s school visit, school transcripts, and the needs of existing classes. In an effort to create an educational environment true to the philosophy of Dr. Montessori, relatively even distribution of boys, girls and ages is critical to the success of each classroom environment. In order to be considered for admission to our elementary program, by September 1st a child must be six years of age.
