Toddler House
Rooted in the Montessori Philosophy, the Toddler House helps children grow in independence, self-discipline, social and emotional awareness, and physical development of the body. Our Toddler House is designed for children from 18 months to 3 years old, offering all the benefits of an early Montessori education.
Our Classroom Environment
Materials in the classroom are carefully presented and designed to foster curiosity, exploration, self-sufficiency, and accomplishment. This is achieved within the flexibility and nurturing comfort of a small, attentive environment. Our main goal is that each child feels safe, happy, and loved every day. Additionally, we help each child develop at their own pace, physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.
Core Areas of Learning
Our curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive Montessori education, focusing on several core areas:
- Practical Life: Activities that develop life skills, such as dressing, cleaning, and caring for the environment, which foster independence and self-confidence.
- Movement: Opportunities for physical development through both structured and free play, enhancing coordination, balance, and gross motor skills.
- Language: Encouraging language development through storytelling, songs, and interaction, aiding in vocabulary growth and communication skills.
- Sensorial: Engaging the senses to help children observe, compare, and categorize their experiences, laying the groundwork for intellectual growth.
- Mathematics and Science: Introducing basic concepts of numbers, patterns, and scientific exploration to nurture a love for learning and understanding the world.
- Culture and Art: Exposure to various cultural activities and artistic expressions, fostering creativity, empathy, and appreciation of diversity.
- Social Skills: Children are given opportunities to learn about taking turns and being patient through social interactions in the classroom. Teachers will model grace, courtesy, and caring for others,
- Independence: Children are encouraged to do things for themselves throughout the day. Teachers acknowledge the children’s efforts instead of just praising the result. This helps your child learn to take pride in their work and to seek out challenges more often.
- In the Toddler House, we provide an enriching environment where every child can thrive. By nurturing their natural curiosity and encouraging them to explore their world, we help them build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Parent Involvement
We encourage parents to work collaboratively with us throughout their toddler’s Montessori experience and to trust that your child’s care and safety are our first priority. Parents will receive a daily information sheet while their child is in the Toddler House. Feedback about your child’s interests, preferences, and habits is encouraged. The parent is the child’s first and lasting teacher and the consistency between home and school is crucial during this developmental stage. Security and nurturing in this early stage will help them make the leap to independence at the next stage easier for both the child and the adults.
