Infant House
Fostering Early Development
Maria Montessori believed that the development of the individual begins at birth, if not before. Infants are born into the First Plane of Development, which Montessori defined as an absorbent mind, the acquisition of language, intense concentration, the development of self, and biological and physical independence.
Our Unique Environment
Our Infant House is a unique environment designed entirely for infants aged 6 weeks up to 18 months old. The classroom is open and furnished with beautiful child-sized furniture and materials. The atmosphere feels warm and cozy within a regulated, predictable school environment for the convenience and comfort of the parents. The constant basis of our Infant House is to provide a nurturing and loving place where children are encouraged to grow and develop at their own pace. It is also intended to be a place for parents to feel secure and welcome. We understand the privilege that parents grant us in being a part of this special time in a child’s life.
Child-Centered Curriculum
The Montessori Infant curriculum is entirely child centered. This approach ensures that each child's individual needs, interests, and pace of development are respected and nurtured. Montessori materials are introduced as the child becomes ready, fostering a natural and engaging learning process. Language development is a central focus of the Infant house. Our teachers read frequently from a mixture of picture and board books. They encourage babbling and describe actions, pictures and sing songs ensuring the infant is exposed to different facial movements and expressions.
Encouraging Movement and Play
To support the physical development of infants, our Infant House includes nursery gyms with ramps and stairs. These facilities encourage movement and play, allowing infants to explore their environment, develop motor skills, and build confidence in their abilities. We follow the child’s natural growth pattern with activities that are designed to promote the development of social skills, emotional growth, and physical coordination. Our teachers gently help infants do things by themselves. They carefully nurture your child’s developing intelligence by offering increasingly more complex objects to explore and manipulate.
Parental Involvement
We place strong emphasis on creating a welcoming environment for parents. We believe that parental involvement is crucial to a child’s development and strive to build a community where parents feel secure, welcome, and an integral part of their child's learning journey.
The Montessori Infant House provides a supportive and enriching environment where infants can thrive. By focusing on the holistic development of each child and fostering a close partnership with parents, we create a foundation for lifelong learning and growth.
